Beijing is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, parks and gardens, tombs, walls and gates, and its art treasures and universities have made it a center of culture and art in China. The city is also known for it’s cuisine, especially the very popular Peking Roast Duck. Additionally, it is famous for it’s opera, and Beijing opera is considered one of the highest Chinese cultural achievements. Xi’an has many ancient ruins and historical monuments and sites. Because of this, it is one of the most popular locations for tourists in all of China. The walls around the city are a tourist attraction in of themselves, as they were constructed during the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century and have been well-preserved. There are several popular tombs and mausoleums near Xi’an, with the most well-known being the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang and his Terracotta Army. There are numerous other attractions in Xi’an, such as Big Wild Goose Pagoda, The Stele Forest, Wolong Temple, Jianfu Temple, The Shaanxi History Museum, Huaqing Hot Springs, as well as many popular national parks and mountains.
Chengdu Chengdu is the provincial capital of Sichuan province in Southwest China, as well as a major city in Western China. The fertile Chengdu Plain, on which Chengdu is located, is also known as the “Country of Heaven”, a phrase also often translated as “The Land of Abundance”.
